A public hearing is set to consider a request for annexation of property into Othello, with the City Council having the option to make a decision after the hearing. The applicants have revised their proposal, removing some properties and including others. The council members couldn't decide on the proposal earlier due to an outdated annexation petition, which has now been updated. The hearing will be part of a regular council meeting, where testimony will be taken. The busy intersection of State Route 26 and South Reynolds Road in Othello is at the center of a heated debate over a proposed roundabout meant to improve safety and traffic flow.
Port Commissioner Deena Vietzke urged collaboration between the city and the Port of Othello to seek funding for the project, highlighting increased traffic from nearby development.
